How to attend edX courses for free

This section explains how to access edX's free online course videos and materials!
Note that the paid version of the course has an optional quiz at the end to measure your understanding (credit is awarded for a certain number of correct answers), and you can earn a certificate if you complete the specified percentage of correct answers.
In this article, we explain how to watch the course videos for free using the home page of the latest course, "The Power of Words" (edX).

First, within the course homepage, press the red 'Enroll' button (at the red arrow in the diagram below).

If you are a new user of edX, click on the button ‘Enroll,’ and you will be prompted to register an account, as shown below.
Enter your full name, email, username (the name you see in the course), and password to create a free account (press the red button ‘Create an account for free’). If you are already registered, please Sign in instead of registering.

After registering or signing in, you may be prompted to purchase the paid version, as shown below.
If you only want to watch the lecture videos (without earning a certificate), you can view all the videos for free, so press the ‘Continue’ button under ‘FREE’ on the right-hand side (red arrow in the diagram below).

The course home page opens. Scroll down to reveal a list of all lectures in the course (with the lecture name). Press the '+' button on the list's right-hand side to see each module's content. For example, in the diagram below, the screen shows Module 1 with the '+' button pressed. Module 1 contains the units 'Introduction' and 'Video Lectures & Quizzes.'
The 'Introduction' contains an overview of the module.
To start with 'Introduction,' click this link (red arrow).

After clicking, an overview of the lecture and an explanation of the number of videos in Module 1 will appear.
At the top of the page, you will see the ‘< Previous’ and ‘Next >’ buttons (red arrow); press the ‘Next > button, and you can move to the next unit in the module.
In the case of module 1, the next unit after ‘Introduction,’ ‘Video Lectures & Quizzes,’ is displayed.
‘Video Lectures & Quizzes’ is a unit that contains several videos and quizzes (for certificate holders: for a fee), which are displayed side by side with their icons.

The lecture video on the home page of The Power of Words (edX) is free and available until 29 August.
